_Romance Scam Information for the Deaf

A consumer education initiative by the WA Deaf Society through the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) Grants Program

West African males and females pretending to be other people inflict brutality and cruelty upon men and women who are lonely and vulnerable, looking for friendship or a partner in their life including women/men who are disabled, disadvantaged, hearing impaired and widowed - Brian Hay.

Scammers choose the easy way to make money but they can never buy back time.

It has been suggested that the scamming industry is no different to the banking industry who rip everyone off with their inflated fees and charges.  We are all guilty of willingly giving them our money against our better judgement and without questioning or witholding the fee, we have a choice to pay or go elsewhere and most of us pay these fees because we feel we have to, they have something of ours, in the case of the scamming industry it is the heart that the scammer holds, it is the same reason that victims give them their money when the scammer requests, the scammer holds something of ours that is valuable, just like the banks.                                                       Back
